Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Formalhaut Draculas, 1977 by Billy Al Bengston was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September last year. The price achieved of USD 16,575.00 (€ 16,942.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Billy Al Bengston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lester, 1961 in February 2020 with an auction result of USD 548,075.00 (€ 497,120.18).
