Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Owl by Bill Traylor was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,760.00 (€ 29,218.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bill Traylor achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Man on White, Woman on Red / Man with Black Dog, double sided, 1939-1942 in January 2020 with an auction result of USD 507,000.00 (€ 457,044.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Owl von Bill Traylor kam im Januar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.760,00 (€ 29.218,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bill Traylor erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Man on White, Woman on Red / Man with Black Dog, double sided, 1939-1942 im Januar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 507.000,00 (€ 457.044,98).
