Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni, which included the work The Flower Basket by Bernard Pothast. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,778.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Bernard Pothast have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The new dress in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 44,254.15).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Flower Basket von Bernard Pothast zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.778,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bernard Pothast auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The new dress im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.850,00 (€ 44.254,15).
