Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mother and children by Bernard Pothast was auctioned at Bukowski in Stockholm in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of SEK 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for SEK 16,000.00 (€ 1,593.46). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bernard Pothast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The new dress in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 25,850.00 (€ 44,254.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mother and children von Bernard Pothast im Dezember 2020 bei Bukowski in Stockholm versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von SEK 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für SEK 16.000,00 (€ 1.593,46) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bernard Pothast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The new dress im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.850,00 (€ 44.254,15).
