In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings and The Orientalist Sale, which included the work Dutch The Picture Book by Bernard Pothast. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 14,900.00 (€ 18,953.45), 49% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernard Pothast - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The new dress, which sold at auction in April 2000 for GBP 25,850.00 (€ 44,254.15).

Im Mai 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings and The Orientalist Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch The Picture Book von Bernard Pothast zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 14.900,00 (€ 18.953,45) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Bernard Pothast mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The new dress beobachtet, die im April 2000 für GBP 25.850,00 (€ 44.254,15) versteigert wurde.
