etching, 1761-63, on thick laid paper, without watermark, a very fine impression of this large and scarce print, printing with strong contrasts, the full sheet, with wide margins and deckle edges on all sides, a long repaired tear in the upper margin, otherwise in good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Vuë des ruines des Fauxbourgs de la Ville de Dresde by Bernardo Bellotto was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in New York in January 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,422.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bernardo Bellotto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of Verona with the Ponte delle Navi in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 10,575,000.00 (€ 12,401,380.23).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Vuë des ruines des Fauxbourgs de la Ville de Dresde von Bernardo Bellotto wurde im Januar 2017 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.422,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bernardo Bellotto erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View of Verona with the Ponte delle Navi im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.575.000,00 (€ 12.401.380,23).
