Despite a disappointment, a good price for Bernardo Bellotto
In July 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work View of Verona with the Ponte delle Navi by Bernardo Bellotto for GBP 10,575,000.00 (€ 12,401,380.23). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters Evening Sale at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 12,000,000.00 – 18,000,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, View of Verona with the Ponte delle Navi is the most expensive artwork by Bernardo Bellotto that we have observed at auction so far.
