Auction result misses estimated price range
In October last year a collector was able to acquire the work Venice, The Grand Canal With The Rialto Bridge Seen From The South by Bernardo Bellotto for USD 1,620,000.00 (€ 1,630,763.04). This price was achieved in the auction The Ann & Gordon Getty Collection: Volume 1 | Important Pictures and Decorative Arts, Evening Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Bernardo Bellotto have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Verona with the Ponte delle Navi in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 10,575,000.00 (€ 12,401,380.23).
