This artwork by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2010. In the Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors auction, the work The Madonna and Child sold for USD 158,500.00 (€ 114,275.41) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Jerome in the Wilderness, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 265,250.00 (€ 307,689.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo erzielte im Januar 2010 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors wurde die Arbeit The Madonna and Child für USD 158.500,00 (€ 114.275,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Saint Jerome in the Wilderness beobachtet, die im Dezember 2010 für GBP 265.250,00 (€ 307.689,20) versteigert wurde.
