Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Bishop seated with his left hand on a book, two young men kneeling nearby and a third standing behind, in an architectural setting by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July last year. The price achieved of GBP 27,720.00 (€ 33,102.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Admittedly, works by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Jerome in the Wilderness in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 307,689.20).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 27.720,00 (€ 33.102,60) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint Jerome in the Wilderness im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 307.689,20).
