Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2014 a collector was able to acquire the work Madonna And Child Before A Curtain, A Mountainous Landscape Beyond by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo for USD 149,000.00 (€ 110,370.37). This price was achieved in the auction The Courts of Europe at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Jerome in the Wilderness, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 265,250.00 (€ 307,689.20).
