In May 2010 Christies in Milan held the auction Old Master Pictures and Drawings, which included the work San Giacomo Maggiore by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 101,600.00 45% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Jerome in the Wilderness, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 265,250.00 (€ 307,689.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 45 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2010 führte Christies in Mailand die Auktion Old Master Pictures and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit San Giacomo Maggiore von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 101.600,00 und damit 45% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Saint Jerome in the Wilderness beobachtet, die im Dezember 2010 für GBP 265.250,00 (€ 307.689,20) versteigert wurde.
