Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A bishop seated on a throne, with two standing figures by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January 2004. The price achieved of USD 56,762.50 (€ 45,585.05) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Saint Jerome in the Wilderness in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 265,250.00 (€ 307,689.20).

Die Arbeit A bishop seated on a throne, with two standing figures von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo wurde im Januar 2004 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 56.762,50 (€ 45.585,05) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Benvenuto Tisi Garofalo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Saint Jerome in the Wilderness im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 265.250,00 (€ 307.689,20).
