Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Tarde Rosada by Benito Quinquela Martín for USD 68,750.00 (€ 64,993.38). This price was achieved in the auction Latin America: Modern Art | Latin America: Contemporary Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Benito Quinquela Martín have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work El Puerto De Buenos Aires in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 421,000.00 (€ 270,565.55).
