Sold at the upper estimate price
In May 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Buque iluminado by Benito Quinquela Martín. The auction ended at the price of USD 30,000.00 (€ 26,699.89), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 25,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benito Quinquela Martín achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work El Puerto De Buenos Aires in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 421,000.00 (€ 270,565.55).
