Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ben Nicholson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in September this year. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Five circles sold for GBP 3,840.00 (€ 3,840.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ben Nicholson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work April 57 (Arbia 2) in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 3,749,000.00 (€ 4,423,451.41).
