Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Burleigh, a chestnut racehorse, with Sam Chifney, at Newmarket by Ben Marshall was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Christies in London in April 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 48,706.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ben Marshall have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Bravura', an iron-grey filly, with James Robinson up, with her owner Sir Robert Keith Dick, Bt., her trainer mounted on a grey pony to the left, on Newmarket Heath in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,541.47).
