Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape with Trees by Benjamin Foster was auctioned at Bonhams in February this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 408.00 (€ 384.83). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Benjamin Foster achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Country Road in February 2002 with an auction result of USD 5,875.00 (€ 6,785.63).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landscape with Trees von Benjamin Foster im Februar diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 408,00 (€ 384,83) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Benjamin Foster erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Country Road im Februar 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.875,00 (€ 6.785,63).
