A top price for Belisario Gioja - as previously expected
The work Anticipation of the arrival by Belisario Gioja was sold in the 19th Century European Art including Russian Pictures auction at Christies in London in September 2005. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,761.09), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Anticipation of the arrival is the most expensive artwork by Belisario Gioja that we have observed at auctions so far.
