Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work The Ruins Of The Nyphaeum In Rome ('Trofeo Di Mario') by Bartholomeus Breenbergh. The price achieved of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,824.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bartholomeus Breenbergh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Classical Landscape With Mercury And Argos in July 2001 with an auction result of GBP 102,750.00 (€ 167,320.96).
