Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a gentleman holding a letter, full-length, seated with a sword beside a draped table with a globe, candlestick, inkwell, books and letter by Bartholomeus Breenbergh was sold in the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 126,000.00 (€ 116,043.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Bartholomeus Breenbergh have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2001 the work A Classical Landscape With Mercury And Argos was auctioned for GBP 102,750.00 (€ 167,320.96).

Safra - Selling Without Reserve bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 126.000,00 (€ 116.043,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
