Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work 'The Rivals - Taeping in company with Fiery Cross, 1866' by Barry Mason. It changed hands for a price of GBP 5,737.50 (€ 6,599.79) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Other works by Barry Mason have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in May 2010 the work The extreme clipper Leander bowling along in the trade winds was auctioned for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,787.29).
