This artwork by Barry Mason achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in November 2020. In the The Marine Sale auction, the work Around the Lock, the Thames at Blackwall, c.1870 sold for GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,561.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Barry Mason - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The extreme clipper Leander bowling along in the trade winds, which sold at auction in May 2010 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,787.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Barry Mason erzielte im November 2020 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Marine Sale wurde die Arbeit Around the Lock, the Thames at Blackwall, c.1870 für GBP 2.295,00 (€ 2.561,99) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Barry Mason mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The extreme clipper Leander bowling along in the trade winds beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.787,29) versteigert wurde.
