In the The Marine Sale auction, the work Around the Lock, the Thames at Blackwall, c.1870 sold for GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,561.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Barry Mason - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The extreme clipper Leander bowling along in the trade winds, which sold at auction in May 2010 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,787.29).
