This artwork by Barry Mason achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2010. In the Maritime Art auction, the work Swedish warships at sea sold for GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,929.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 900.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Barry Mason - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The extreme clipper Leander bowling along in the trade winds, which sold at auction in May 2010 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,787.29).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Barry Mason erzielte im Mai 2010 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Maritime Art wurde die Arbeit Swedish warships at sea für GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.929,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 900,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Barry Mason mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The extreme clipper Leander bowling along in the trade winds beobachtet, die im Mai 2010 für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.787,29) versteigert wurde.
