Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work 3 Sculptures - Plan View by Barry Le Va was auctioned at Phillips in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 318.00 (€ 292.49). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barry Le Va achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three works: (i) Double Drawing; (ii) Untitled (feld & glas); (iii) Sheets to Strips to Particles in February 2019 with an auction result of USD 22,500.00 (€ 19,773.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit 3 Sculptures - Plan View von Barry Le Va im März diesen Jahres bei Phillips versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 318,00 (€ 292,49) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barry Le Va erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Three works: (i) Double Drawing; (ii) Untitled (feld & glas); (iii) Sheets to Strips to Particles im Februar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 19.773,27).
