Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Balthasar van der Ast; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Still Life Of Fruit And Shells With A Rose And Various Insects Upon A Stone Ledge sold at auction in December 2012 with the realized price of GBP 1,497,250.00 (€ 1,846,525.06).
