Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Flowers in a vase on a stone ledge with a sea shell and a grasshopper by Balthasar van der Ast was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. The price achieved of GBP 176,400.00 (€ 206,865.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Admittedly, works by Balthasar van der Ast have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Still Life Of Fruit And Shells With A Rose And Various Insects Upon A Stone Ledge in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 1,497,250.00 (€ 1,846,525.06).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 176.400,00 (€ 206.865,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben worden.
