This artwork by Baldassare Franceschini achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2021. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work ‘La Pescatrice’ (The Fisherwoman), or An Allegory of Fraud sold for GBP 302,400.00 (€ 354,626.70) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Baldassare Franceschini; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of the Marchese Altoviti as Hylas sold at auction in April 2017 with the realized price of USD 751,500.00 (€ 689,765.95).
