Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Assumption of the Virgin with Saints Catherine of Siena and Margaret of Cortona (recto); Study for an Assumption of the Virgin and a plan of a church (verso) by Baldassare Franceschini was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Baldassare Franceschini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the Marchese Altoviti as Hylas in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 751,500.00 (€ 689,765.95).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Assumption of the Virgin with Saints Catherine of Siena and Margaret of Cortona (recto); Study for an Assumption of the Virgin and a plan of a church (verso) von Baldassare Franceschini im Juli 2020 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 750,00 (€ 836,57) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Baldassare Franceschini erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of the Marchese Altoviti as Hylas im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 751.500,00 (€ 689.765,95).
