Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Night on the River Thames, a study for 'Past and Present', Part III (recto); and a study of a woman and child (verso) by Augustus Leopold Egg was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2003. It achieved a price of GBP 8,365.00 (€ 12,212.64), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Admittedly, works by Augustus Leopold Egg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Queen Elizabeth discovers she is no longer young. In the melancholy of her sickness, she desired to see a true looking-glass, into which she had not looked for twenty years. in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 38,240.00 (€ 59,881.87).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 8.365,00 (€ 12.212,64) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 20%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Augustus Leopold Egg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Queen Elizabeth discovers she is no longer young.
