etching, 1546, without watermark, a good though slightly later impression of this rare etching, printing with a light platetone and many wiping marks and scratches, with wide margins on three sides, at left with thread margins and partially trimmed to the platemark, a small area of tiny tears and paper losses, backed, at the left sheet edge reaching into the platemark, a small paper loss at the lower sheet edge, a few pale foxmarks, some staining mainly at the left sheet edge where previously bound, otherwise in good condition

It achieved a price of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,415.97), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 56%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Augustin Hirschvogel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Landscape with a Castle on a Rock at Centre, which sold at auction in January 2021 for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,752.99).

Die Arbeit Landscape with a winding wooden Bridge (Schwarz, B. 76; Holl. 48) von Augustin Hirschvogel kam im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 15.415,97) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 56%. Für andere Arbeiten von Augustin Hirschvogel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Landscape with a Castle on a Rock at Centre beobachtet, die im Januar 2021 für GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.752,99) versteigert wurde.
