Landscape with a Church (Sch., B. 68; Holl. 41)
etching, 1545, watermark Double-headed Eagle in Shield with Crown and Initials M (similar to Briquet 326, 1589-91, Brünn), a good, strong though slightly later impression of this rare etching, showing some minor wear in the lower branches at right, with margins, the lower right part of the image torn and re-attached without any significant losses, a small paper loss in the margin at left, the sheet laid down onto a 19th century album sheet

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape with a Church (Sch., B. 68; Holl. 41) by Augustin Hirschvogel was sold in the Old Master Prints auction at Christies in London in December 2012. It changed hands for a price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,858.07) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Augustin Hirschvogel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Landscape with a Castle on a Rock at Centre in January 2021 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,752.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Landscape with a Church (Sch., B. 68; Holl. 41) von Augustin Hirschvogel wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion Old Master Prints bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.858,07) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Augustin Hirschvogel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Landscape with a Castle on a Rock at Centre im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.752,99).
