A top price for August Strindberg
This artwork by August Strindberg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June last year. In the Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction auction, the work Wave V sold for GBP 6,797,800.00 (€ 7,897,109.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000,000.00. This high result makes Wave V the most expensive artwork by August Strindberg that we have observed at auctions so far.
