Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Översvämning Vid Donau (Flood On The Danube) by August Strindberg. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 620,000.00 (€ 558,911.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by August Strindberg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wave V in June last year with an auction result of GBP 6,797,800.00 (€ 7,897,109.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Översvämning Vid Donau (Flood On The Danube) von August Strindberg zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 620.000,00 (€ 558.911,02) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von August Strindberg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wave V im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.797.800,00 (€ 7.897.109,91).
