Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work We are all Spiritually Connected to Each Other (with DHL tape) by Atsushi Kaga was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 600,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 2,394,000.00 (€ 289,452.03). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Atsushi Kaga; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Breakfast in January sold at auction in May this year with the realized price of HKD 2,520,000.00 (€ 302,049.93).
