Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Faust in his study by Ary Scheffer was sold in the 19th Century European Art Including Russian Pictures auction at Christies in London in March 2007. The price achieved of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,649.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ary Scheffer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De George Washington, D'Après Gilbert Stuart in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 265,000.00.

Die Arbeit Faust in his study von Ary Scheffer wurde im März 2007 in der Auktion 19th Century European Art Including Russian Pictures bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.649,39) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ary Scheffer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait De George Washington, D'Après Gilbert Stuart im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 265.000,00.
