In December 2014 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European & Orientalist Art, which included the work Faust And Mephistopheles by Ary Scheffer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 27,500.00 (€ 35,401.62), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ary Scheffer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait De George Washington, D'Après Gilbert Stuart in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 265,000.00.

Im Dezember 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European & Orientalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Faust And Mephistopheles von Ary Scheffer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 35.401,62) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ary Scheffer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait De George Washington, D'Après Gilbert Stuart im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 265.000,00.
