Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Varanasi by Arup Das. The price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,406.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arup Das - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Village), which sold at auction in March 2019 for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,699.32).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2011 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Varanasi von Arup Das zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.406,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Arup Das mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Village) beobachtet, die im März 2019 für USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.699,32) versteigert wurde.
