Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work 'The Music of the Stream': an unpublished illustration for King of the Golden River by Arthur Rackham was sold in the British and European Art auction at Christies in New York in July this year. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 31,500.00 (€ 36,750.95). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Rackham - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Andromeda, which sold at auction in September last year for GBP 88,500.00 (€ 100,721.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit 'The Music of the Stream': an unpublished illustration for King of the Golden River von Arthur Rackham wurde im Juli diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 31.500,00 (€ 36.750,95) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Arthur Rackham mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Andromeda beobachtet, die im September letzten Jahres für GBP 88.500,00 (€ 100.721,56) versteigert wurde.
