Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Stable Boy With Fez, Soldiers Seated, Morocco by Arthur Melville was auctioned at Sothebys in London in February 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,936.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Melville achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work After The Play in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 174,500.00 (€ 237,115.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Stable Boy With Fez, Soldiers Seated, Morocco von Arthur Melville im Februar 2019 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.936,26) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Melville erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit After The Play im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 174.500,00 (€ 237.115,90).
