Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spectators at Cowes Regatta, 1905 by Arthur James Wetherall Burgess was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,459.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur James Wetherall Burgess - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An American Naval Auxiliary And Other Shipping In A Dockyard, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,276.89).
