This artwork by Arthur James Wetherall Burgess achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2014. In the Maritime Art auction, the work Ships Lying In The Clyde Anchorage Emergency Port At Holy Loch sold for GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,435.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Arthur James Wetherall Burgess; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot An American Naval Auxiliary And Other Shipping In A Dockyard sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 2,880.00 (€ 4,276.89).
