Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Five Chairs; Interior by Anwar Jalal Shemza. The price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 9,462.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anwar Jalal Shemza achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work City Wall in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 231,250.00 (€ 199,749.50).
