Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Untitled (The Walls of Lahore) by Anwar Jalal Shemza was worth GBP 19,125.00 (€ 22,498.74) to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art at Bonhams in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Anwar Jalal Shemza have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work City Wall in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 231,250.00 (€ 199,749.50).
