Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Design for a painting depicting 'Fame, with some Genii, presenting to Great Britain the portraits of Alfred the Great and Queen Elizabeth: Great Britain seated upon the throne between two figures, representing Faith and Justice', for the overmantel o by Antonio Zucchi was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2002. The price achieved of GBP 6,572.50 (€ 10,166.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antonio Zucchi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of James Adam (1732-1794), three-quarter-length, in an embroidered waistcoat and fur-lined blue coat, holding a pair of compasses, and a scroll, leaning on a capital, in an interior in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 374,500.00 (€ 472,362.25).
