Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Composition with male and female figure by Anton Martineau was sold in the PICTURES WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS INCL. COPIES AFTER OMPIX auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2001. The price achieved of EUR 822.50 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 700.00 – 900.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Anton Martineau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A still life with a flower in a vase and a horse's head, which sold at auction in November 2000 for NLG 4,095.70 (€ 1,918.77).

COPIES AFTER OMPIX bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 822,50 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Anton Martineau mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A still life with a flower in a vase and a horse's head beobachtet, die im November 2000 für NLG 4.095,70 (€ 1.918,77) versteigert wurde.
