Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rope Market, 1932; Two Women, c. 1940s; Fruit Vendor, 1932; Zorina and Charles Laskay in 'Fools in Love' from Louisiana Purchase, c. 1940s by Anton Bruehl was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 879.11). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anton Bruehl achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stocking ad, 1930s in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 22,500.00 (€ 20,087.49).
