In July 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work Preparing Horses For The Riderless Race In Rome by Antoine Charles Horace Vernet. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,400.00 (€ 8,020.25), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antoine Charles Horace Vernet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Skirmish with the Cossacks during Napoleon's Russian Campaign of 1812 in April 2003 with an auction result of USD 153,100.00 (€ 124,674.27).

Im Juli 2007 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Preparing Horses For The Riderless Race In Rome von Antoine Charles Horace Vernet zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.400,00 (€ 8.020,25) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antoine Charles Horace Vernet erzielen.
