Wheatley, Up At Newmarket, 1815 sold for USD 74,090.00 (€ 58,815.59) - well above the upper estimate of USD 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antoine Charles Horace Vernet - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Skirmish with the Cossacks during Napoleon's Russian Campaign of 1812, which sold at auction in April 2003 for USD 153,100.00 (€ 124,674.27).
