This artwork by Anthony Gross achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2005. In the Twentieth Century British Art auction, the work Woolwich City; and two etchings sold for GBP 1,680.00 (€ 2,477.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Admittedly, works by Anthony Gross have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A large collection of etchings, circa 1955 to 1976, on wove and laid paper, each signed and titled in pencil, each with full margins, in varying conditions, most in excellent overall condition in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 17,380.46).
